Ibsen supplies diffraction gratings and grating-based modules.

Ibsen's fused silica transmission grating technologies allow us to provide unique gratings to a broad range of applications - from exceptionally demanding one-of-a-kind Phase masks over the most thermally and environmentally stable gratings for femtosecond laser applications, to highly repeatable spectrometer and telecom gratings produced by holographic stepper technology.

Our optical design capabilities leverage the benefits of our transmission gratings to design and manufacture I-MON FBG Sensor System Interrogation Monitors. We also design, develop and manufacture OEM spectrometer modules, where adding value from early design through full-scale production.

Supplying customized products dedicated to our customer's applications is a speciality of Ibsen - however, a number of standardized products are available for convenient online purchasing.

Grating products

Phase masks
Ibsen is a world leader in phase masks, based on interferometric (holographic) patterning, RIE etching and extensive metrology - all performed in class 10 cleanroom environment. Unbeatable period accuracy and uniformity of +/- 0.01 nm is built into every Ibsen Phase mask. Our Phase masks are the ideal tool for any grating replication - be it for FBGs or planar components.
Telecom gratings
Polarization independent (PING) telecom gratings from Ibsen are produced by holographic stepper technology in 100% dielectric materials. This leads to unbeatable thermal and environmental stability, with no polymers, epoxies, gelatins or metals in the optical path nor in the grating whatsoever. Advanced etching technology ensures highest diffrection efficiency and lowest PDL over a very broad bandwidth. Low angular sensitivity is an added bonus for module design and assembly.
Pulse Compression Gratings
As femtosecond laser systems advance to ever-increasing energy levels, demands to the energy/power handling capabilities of pulse compression gratings increase. Ibsen manufacturers 100% fused silica Pulse Compression Gratings that offer unbeatable energy/power handling capacity, combined with high-effiency, low wavefront distortion performance.
Spectrometer gratings
Ibsen has developed manufacturing technologies to produce 1 - or to produce thousands - each being a holographic, 100% fused silica MasterPiece but at prices previously only possible for replicas.
Other grating applications
Our fused silica grating capabilities can be applied to many other niche grating applications, and our production technologies are suitable for producing from 1's up to many 1000's. Let us know your requirements.

I-MON Interrogation Monitors for FBG Sensing Systems
Based on Ibsen Transmission Gratings and patented optical designs, our I-MONs offer real-time spectrum monitoring of Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors. Combined with compact size and straighforward integration, the I-MONs are ideal for vibration analysis or temperature, pressure or strain measurement systems.
